Dr Darshan Pal, President of Krantikari Kisan Union Punjab (Revolutionary Farmers Union Punjab). He is the co-ordinator of Samjukt Kisan Morcha, a coalition of over 40 Indian farmers unions, which is leading the historic, longest lasting (over a year thus far) protest the anti-farming laws introduced in 2020. These laws are essentially designed to drive the small and middle farmers off their land and pave the way for multinational corporations to take over. Farmers believe this will wreck the agricultural economy, which provides employment for 70% of the population and will destroy farming communities. This will also have an adverse impact on food security among other working and poor communities in India

We will also be joined by Gautam Modi from New Trade Union Initiative who will speak of the impact of the farmers struggle on the working people and the poor in India.

He will also be joined by Sanjay Singvy General Secretary of Trade Union Centre of India. He will talk about the impact of working people of the corporatization of India’s agriculture sector and what would be the impact of the farmers victory particularly among the unorganised Labour in India that TUCI are unionising.
